A two-person lift — and removal of the fill/drain plugs — usually gets the job done, but if you are left to winterize on your own, a simple siphon kit will help. By siphoning most of the water out of the legs of the ladder or out of the side panels of the pool step it will make it lighter and more buoyant. Depending upon the ladder or pool step, removal of the handrails or some of the treads may be necessary.
